Sabrina RattéMontreal, Canada
Sabrina Ratté is a Canadian artist whose practice encompasses video, animation, installation art, sculpture, audiovisual performance and virtual reality.
Combining analogue technology, photography and 3D animation techniques, her work focuses on the creation of architectural structures, abstract compositions and surrealist landscapes existing somewhere between virtual and physical reality.
In 2019, she was longlisted for the Sobey Art Award (Canada).
Undream depicts an imaginary future of collapsing utopia and dystopia. This artwork is inspired by the photomontages created by Superstudio, a major player in the radical design and architecture movement of the 1960s.
Undream takes the viewer through an isolated landscape over which looms a monumental structure.
Carried along by the undulating movement, the visitors find themselves on impossible and abandoned ground, suspended between what is man-made and what is natural.
