Activity Série photo prothèses-sculptures

Description

ARTIST’S APPROACH

Born in 1961, Philippe Ramette lives and works in Paris. After having tried to paint, he destroyed all his paintings to become a sculptor. He creates structures that place his own body or those of visitors in situations that defy reason with facetiousness. His photographs, which transpose into images the humour and strangeness of his sculptures, have brought him great notoriety. His works distort the laws of gravity to make poetry of the world.

THE ARTWORK

Série photo prothèses-sculptures

Photography, 2001-2006

In his photographs, Philippe Ramette places himself in the scene with a characteristic costume and a serious air. These challenges to gravity are carried out with the help of concealed accessories or structures during shooting. Once taken, the photos are not retouched in any way.
