Performance
This is a performance by way of a conversation with the public taking place at Place Bonaventure as part of Montreal’s Nuit Blanche.
A table, five chairs, an old photo album, her old black doll named Katinka, aged post cards from former Dutch colonies, a tablecloth her grandmother crocheted, an historic map of Europe and many other childhood memories.
During a fifteen-minute discussion, she shares stories related to a shift in perspective about her education and schooling in the Netherlands. She explains how times have changes; not only regarding traditions and belief systems, but equally how this pushed her to reset the values of the past.
Throughout this meeting, time is set aside for communication, questions and conversing with the public, whose members actively participate in the discussion by tackling the following question: what would we want to reset here and now if we had the power to do so?
