The project
Vitrine sur l’Art is an initiative created in 2016 by Art Souterrain in which the windows of business premises for rent are used to display contemporary art pieces.
Mission
By transforming vacant spaces into temporary exhibition galleries, the project aims at making Canadian contemporary art known to Montrealers and tourists, by creating new meeting opportunities in public spaces.
The windows used as displays for contemporary art pieces become exceptional exhibition venues. They present major pieces issued from major private and public collections along with unique artists’ projects. In addition to highlighting Canadian contemporary art and making it known to a wider audience, this initiative allows an embellishment of vacant commercial spaces. Thus, contributing to the revitalization of the neighbourhood.
