L’ART S’AFFICHE x Technopôle Angus
From October 8, 2022 to March 3, 2023
Montreal artist Amélie Jodoin is now on display for L’art s’affiche at the Technopôle Angus
L’art s’affiche is a public display project, with the objective of making contemporary art accessible while visually energizing the urban space. Emerging and established artists, from multiple practices, are selected and invited to exhibit their works in an unexpected environment.
L’art s’affiche is part of Art Souterrain’s Art in Workplace program, whose mandate is to bring art into the everyday work environment. A regular program is already in place with Ubisoft Montreal, which, every three months, hosts an artist’s solo show on its façade.
Amélie Jodoin obtained a Bachelor’s in visual and media arts from UQAM in 2016. She was part of the first edition of ARTCH in 2018, and did an artist residency in Finland in 2019 for which she received a grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. In 2020, she had her first solo exhibition at Galerie AVE (Montréal). Recently, she has taken part in group exhibitions at The Tub Hackney (London, UK), Jano Lapin (Montréal) and Z Art Space (Montréal). Amélie Jodoin lives and works in Montréal.
Looking on in amusement at her surroundings, Amélie Jodoin is interested in modifying and transforming existing images. For the past years, she has focused on the metamorphosis of the landscapes in which she finds herself. She considers the pictorial quality of her environment: its colours, composition, textures and objects. By extracting certain elements from the landscapes and by introducing incongruous ones into them, she produces fictional scenes based on reality, in which familiar objects are placed in unexpected ways in the style of site-specific art.
