Activity Simulacres no.5

Description

ARTIST’S APPROACH

Born in 1981, Jeanne Tzaut conjugates sculpture and painting in a desire to question the existing universes from which she extracts forms, working with a shifted perspective that brings a certain strangeness. She finds inspiration in her urban wanderings, where she collects architectural elements, details and fragments that she then puts together into installations conceived for the locations they inhabit.

THE ARTWORK

Simulacres

In situ installations

For Art Souterrain, Jeanne Tzaut has created a series of “simulacra”. In an intentionally imperfect manner, she has reproduced objects and decors discovered in the underground city that intrigued or amused her: a telescopic nacelle, a brick wall, a collection of radiators… These farcical objects of wood or paint mock reality and reveal to us the strangeness, humour and poetry that thrive around us, though we pay them little attention.
