Activity El Refugio/L’abri

Description

The artwork

El Refugio/L’abri

Installation, 2018

As part of the exhibition Dobles de proximidad, curated by Patricio Kind and presented at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) – Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Guillaume Brisson- Darveau presented the installation El Refugio. The monkeys in the installation evoke both the animal and the automaton, the primitive and the futurist. Like a freeze-frame shot from a scene in a sci-fi movie, monkeys are busy, building a mysterious structure from pillars generated by their stomach. The architectural structure is a mystical place, an urban architecture, and a post- apocalyptic one, all at once.
