Biography

Perry Bard was born in Quebec and lives in New York. Interested in both physical and virtual space, she works individually and collaboratively on projects that address social issues. She has exhibited video and installations in New York at the Museum of Modern Art, Scanners Video Festival at Lincoln Center, PS 1 Museum, at the Guggenheim YouTube Play Biennials, and internationally at the Frac des Pays de la Loire, Sao Paolo Biennial, Montréal Biennale, Cartagena, the Southeast Museum of Photography, MOCA Georgia, Reina Sofia Museum Madrid, Cinema Rex Belgrade, OSTranenie Electronic Media Forum Dessau, VIPER Basel.

Her public video installations are site specific, addressing cultural history and memory, often involving local community groups in the production process. She has created work for the Staten Island Ferry Terminal Building in New York, a JVC Video store in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Hotel Cristal in Bialystok Poland and Market Square in Middlesbrough, UK.

Her award-winning crowd-sourced work Man with a Movie Camera: The Global Remake was named by Google one of the 106 most creative uses of the internet and presented in museums, galleries, biennials and film/media festivals worldwide.

Her work is featured in Digital Currents: Art in the Electronic Age by Margot Lovejoy, Die Anthologie der Kunst by Jochen Gerz, Resolutions 3 :Global Networks of Video by Erika Suderburg, Ming Yuen S.Ma. and has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, Flash Art, Lapiz, Springerin and The New Art Examiner.
