Andrew Oliver is an artist born in Victoria, BC. He has a BFA in Painting at Emily Carr University (Vancouver). He primarily works on canvas and paper, creating artworks that reflect everyday objects and people.
His artistic process begins with the collecting of reference sketches and images. From there, he draws them into a composition and starts painting. He is fascinated by the relationship between colour and form, traditional techniques, and modern materials.
About the artwork
You & Eye
You & Eye is composed of a grid of twenty ink drawings made last spring while under social restrictions. Each illustration is made up of a series of small ink blot portraits and characters. This work is an exercise in free association and repetition.
