Artistic project : STAGE
The three independent creations STAGE (2001), SINGERS & STAGES (2013) and Taiwanese Vaudeville Troupes (2016) are forming a whole photographic project related to performing groups in the form of cabarets ensembles in Taiwan. Since 1993, those troupes employ stage trucks that can be converted, much like a transformer robot, into complete stages featuring psychedelic LED lights and thundering speakers. STAGE is about those trucks morphing into dream making machines for the gathering crowd, while the SINGERS&STAGES shows singers who run from show to show, singing and dancing. Taiwanese Vaudeville Troupes finally aim to put “faces” on this industry, a fast disappearing rural culture in the modernization of the society while it being part of the of collective memories of the Taiwanese people.
