Biography

Born on April 21th 1971, in Bordeaux, France, Laurent Perbos currently lives and works in Marseille. Graduated from the Bordeaux School of Art in 1997, he established himself as an artist in collective exhibitions (Beijing International Art Biennale 2008, this is not a Casino, 2010 ...) and personal (Atone +, 2006, Sculpture Club, 2015, Eeriness, 2012-2013 ...) all over the world.

Artistic project

In Inflatabowl, I make a recovery of already existing leisure objects, like the inflatable beach games, whose use I hijack. Thus, the viewer is offered toys, a priori well defined, which at a given moment move away from their purposes, transgress their rules and offer an ambiguous look at notions of attraction or aversion, pleasure or apprehension, melancholy or euphoria. In this project, I try to create a curious mixture between the real, the everyday objects and the fantastic, the symbolic, the poetic thus creating an illusion of the senses.

Between figuration and abstraction, my intention is to realize a work as a ground of exchange both physical and intellectual.
