Working in the fields of cinema and contemporary art, Julie Chaffort is especially interested in the vastness and the vacuity of natural lands, in their deserted and abandoned nature; her films and videos are filled with a certain slowness that invites attentive contemplation, but also plays with the registers of absurdity, of loss, of surprise and of discrepancy. Julie Chaffort won the Bullukian 2016 award and the François Schneider foundation has recently named her the 2015 Contemporary Talents laureate for her piece Montagnes Noires. She is currently participating in the group exhibition Mezzanine Sud at the Musée des Abattoirs de Toulouse – France.
Artistic project : Hybride
The video “Hybride” is apart of a short-video series where the artist wanted to confront animal with artifice, the living with the inanimate (stuffed animals, teddy bears, etc.). How will the animal react to its own representation ?
